MBM To Appear in The Parliamentary Review
We are delighted to report that we have been invited to write an article for 2019/20 edition of The Parliamentary Review. Established by former minister The Rt Hon David Curry in 2010, The Parliamentary Review’s release has become a key fixture in the political calendar. Currently, it counts The Rt Hon The Lord Pickles and The Rt Hon The Lord Blunkett as its chairmen.
The Parliamentary Review
At a time when print media is in decline, as The Mirror reports, The Parliamentary Review is something of a modern success story. Currently, it distributes over 700,000 hard copies a year. Quite a feat in less than a decade!
The Parliamentary Review provides political commentary from leading journalists. It gives sector-specific insight from Secretaries of State, Ministers and MPs alike. It has become an essential guide to sharing industry best practice with policymakers and business leaders. Moreover, it helps highlight how sector leaders have responded to challenges. Both in the political and economic environment.
The Review has several editions: Technology, Finance, Defence etc. Each one focuses on an individual area of policy. Typically, the relevant minister, or key industry leader, provides background into the sector and discusses the key issues. It then draws from key industry players to provide deeper insight from their own experiences of working in the sector. In addition, it also addresses any policy obstacles that those who operate in the sector may have to contend with and overcome.
In short, The Review has the aim of raising standards by highlighting best practice. Yet, despite its name, and a foreword by the Prime Minister, it doesn’t shy away from criticising government policy. It is totally independent and reviews the latest events in parliament from a non-partisan perspective.
In recent years, The Parliamentary Review has featured forewords by Theresa May, David Cameron, Caroline Lucas, Lucy Powell and many other political figures. Furthermore, non-political contributors have included Frank Lampard and Johnny Wilkinson.
