Do – Challenge for managers who set expectations for their teams:

Look at the objectives you have set with your team. How clear are they? Have you agreed ‘how’ you want people to work as well as ’what’ you want people to deliver? Review whether you could make your expectations clearer by defining them more – instead of using broad labels like ‘be more visible’, describe what you would like to see someone doing and saying and what you would like them to avoid, ‘I’d like you to be more visible, by that I mean going and talking to people face to face and offering them your support. What I’d like you to avoid is relying on email as your main source of communication…..’  If you can’t define it, you’ve no right to ask for it…
